T59 Round 4

Mistakes on both our and opponent’s sides continue, that is chess and at the end perhaps an even swap for this round.

A few games of note with analysis below.

Lacibacsi plays a King’s Indian, struggles back from lost positions, and finally perseveres in the end game! Never give up!

nidusin2 plays a hard fought Sicilian, finally losing the race to mate with opposite side castling.

Ajolote hangs on and knocks down the win after opponent misses some winning opportunities!

fireball plays the white side of a Gambiting King’s Gambit.  After a long road pulling Black King to a good place he drops the ball at the final move. Fun game none the less and worth looking at for Gambit fans.

T57 Round 2 continued

Exciting King's Gambit resulting in a winning game, but it's not over until it's over and fireball wins the "blunder of the week award" awarding his Queen to opponent. Both players win the "never give up!" category as opponent JasonModer carried on in a lost game and fireball struggled back to a draw after the Queen "sacrifice".

T57 Round 2 comments

First game is in the "never give up!" category - here monkeyshark manages extreme time pressure and hangs on for the win! Exciting tactics from both sides as well as some key alternative lines to consider.

T57 start!

Now with 3 teams, U1800, U1600 and U1400! Great to be back playing in Team4545!

Round 1 comments

We started out with some great games and also some errors - that is chess!

On the error side an example is my first game, overall an interesting French defense exchange. Here fireball played to an advantage, then gave away the needed win for a draw!

Never give up! Here Tobiasdelmonte saves the draw with a brilliant Queen  sacrifice!

JustinL comes back and clinches a nice win! Interesting reply from Black to Austrian attack.

T56 Summary

Well with moving house and such I have been lax in posting. Here are some interesting games from T56.

Round 6

monkeyshark wins another tactical battle and shows how to counter the center-counter!

Well I really love to play Smith-Morra, win or lose always great fun! My opponent played really well here, held off my traps and pins, and finally persevered with the hanging pawn I left on the board!

Nice game by Altairus wins the tactical battle. Lots of temporary piece sacrifices from both sides...

nidusin shows us how to play the Nimzo-Indian!
